Accessibility
Accessibility.
A site everyone can use.
We want everyone to be able to find a home on this site, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification, voice control or other assistive technology.
Our standard
We design and test to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA.
What we have built in
- Every page works with JavaScript turned off. Search results, listings and guides are plain, readable HTML.
- The whole site can be used with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline and a "Skip to content" link on every page.
- Pages use real headings, landmarks and lists, so screen readers can navigate them.
- Every form field has a label, and form errors and confirmations are announced.
- Text and controls are designed to meet AA color contrast.
- Animations respect your device's reduced motion setting.
- Maps are always paired with a list of the same homes, so you never need the map.
Known limits
- Listing photos arrive from listing brokerages without descriptions. Their alternative text names the address and photo number; the listing details describe the home in words.
- Listing descriptions are written by listing agents and appear as they entered them.
