A 93-room hotel (named Fairfield Inn on the Town case page) is planned on a vacant 1.7-acre lot at 1315 Rugby Lane. A hotel is allowed by right there; Town Council granted a special exception 5-0 on May 12, 2026 so some of the 102 parking spaces can sit in front of the building.

The special exception (EXP-26-1) waives part of the hotel use and design standards in the General Commercial district. The lot has frontage on Country Club Drive, with all access from Rugby Lane. Planning Commission and work session minutes describe 17 front parking spaces; the Town case page says 18. The Planning Commission recommended approval 7-1 on April 7, 2026. No construction start was found as of October 2026.
