Virginia Tech Montgomery Executive Airport Master Plan Update
Update of the 20-year master plan for the Virginia Tech Montgomery Executive Airport, prompted by completion of the runway extension in 2020, the main project in the 2008 plan. The Airport Authority presented it to Town Council on June 17, 2025, saying the plan would focus on growth within the airport fence and future terminal expansion or a new building location, with completion targeted for early 2026 followed by Federal Aviation Administration review. NRV MPO materials dated May 7, 2026 say the plan is being finalized by the Authority.

The airport has a 5,500-foot runway and is operated by the Virginia Tech-Montgomery Regional Airport Authority, made up of Montgomery County, the Towns of Blacksburg and Christiansburg, and Virginia Tech. The airport capital improvement plan in the MPO materials lists an Airport Master Plan Update at $450,000 in 2024.
