Prices Fork Road Speed Limit Reduction (Ordinance 2087)
Town Council lowered the speed limit on Prices Fork Road from Old Glade Road to Main Street from 35 mph to 25 mph through Ordinance 2087, signed July 8, 2025 and effective upon adoption. The change followed a Speed and Safety Study by Whitman, Requardt & Associates that found a 75 percent increase in pedestrian volume since the 2019 study. The ordinance keeps a 40 mph limit from Old Glade Road to the western town limits.

Staff told Council at a June 3, 2025 work session that since the 2019 study, pedestrian volume rose 75 percent, vehicle volume 6.4 percent and reported vehicle crashes 22 percent. A separate Area One ordinance (Ordinance 2071) covered downtown and Historic Sixteen Squares streets, with a public hearing on March 11, 2025. The Town's project page describes implementation of the new limits during summer 2025 but does not confirm the date signs were changed.
