Three houses at 700 and 706 South Main Street and 105 Eakin Street SW will be converted to general office, medical office or fine arts studio use, with a new 1,200 square foot one-story building behind 706 South Main. Town Council approved the conditional use permit 6-0 on September 8, 2026.

The permit (CUP-26-2) applies in the R-5 Transitional Residential district. Site changes include a shared two-way drive from Eakin Street, a bioretention area for stormwater between 700 and 706 South Main, and removal of two brick garages. The applicant asked for an exception to the requirement to build new sidewalk on Eakin Street. The Planning Commission recommended approval 5-0 on August 4, 2026.
