Virginia Tech undergraduate enrollment growth planning

Virginia Tech enrolled 31,536 undergraduates in fall 2025, up from 27,811 in 2018. In November 2025 university leaders gave the Board of Visitors enrollment modeling that included a scenario of 40,000 undergraduates by 2033, about 8,500 more, and said growth would require investment in housing, classrooms and student services. The board's amended housing resolution of Aug. 26, 2026 directs the university to plan residence hall renovation and construction together with managing undergraduate enrollment growth; the sources reviewed show no adopted enrollment target.
